Telecom operator Aircel has launched a scheme offering three-month unlimited on-net calls bundled with limited free data usage and calls to other networks for Rs 148. "Customers will enjoy free Aircel to Aircel (Local and STD) and also Free Aircel to others (local and STD with a free usage of 15,000 seconds (250 minutes) per month for three months for 90 days with the First Recharge of Rs 148," Aircel said in a statement. The benefits will be available for customers in Delhi NCR only. In addition to the calling benefits, customers will get unlimited 2G data for one month with fair usage limited up to 500 megabyte. Customer will have to recharge for minimum Rs 50 in the second and third month for any of the Aircel service to continue the call benefits. Amidst the telecom wars between operators like Reliance Jio, Vodafone, Airtel and Idea, the Indian government is also trying to push the envelope of its flagship Digital India campaign. According to the government scheme, users will get 100 minutes of talk time and Internet data free till 3GB along with a SIM card. This offer is only for people aged between 16 to 30 years of age each month.(Reuters) Following the success of Reliance Jio, the Goa government in its attempt to promote central government’s Digital India initiative is planning to provide free internet and calling facilities to the youth in the state. Reliance Jio’s 4G services, with its free 4G services, has already lured a large portion of the Indian population, especially the youth. Reliance Jio Chairman Mukhesh Ambani announced a new Happy New Year offer for customers on Thursday, extending the benefits of the original Welcome Offer which gives Reliance Jio customers unlimited voice calling, text messages and data for free. However the Reliance Jio Happy New Year plan will come with a Fair Usage Police or FUP which will cap data for Reliance Jio customers at around 1 GB per day.
