Persistent rain spoiled a good start by India in the first session of the fourth Test here on Thursday. Electing to bat, West Indies were 62/2 in 22 overs when heavy rain intervened just before lunch. Given their generally lackadaisical approach towards scoring throughout the series, West Indies might just take this start. Kraigg Brathwaite, by far their most assuring batsman in this series, was unbeaten on 32. He was partnered by Marlon Samuels, who has been copping a lot of criticism lately, on 10. India however would be disappointed they couldn’t add one more wicket to the tally. With the ball showing some lateral movement, Bhuvneshwar Kumar induced a slight edge off Brathwaite’s bat in the last ball of the third over. The ball flew to the left of Virat Kohli at second slip but he was probably a second late in reacting to the catch. Apart from that dropped catch, this was probably the first time West Indies had a relatively low key time facing spells with the new ball....

న్యూఢిల్లీ : దేశవ్యాప్తంగా సంచలనం సృష్టించిన నిర్భయ అత్యాచార కేసులో సుప్రీంకోర్టు కీలక తీర్పు ఇచ్చింది. నిర్భయ కేసులో ముగ్గురు దోషులకు ఉరి శిక్షే సరి అని తీర్పు వెలువరించింది. తమకు విధించిన ఉరి శిక్షను రద్దు చేసి, జీవిత ఖైదుగా మార్చాలంటూ నిర్భయ కేసు దోషులు దాఖలు చేసిన రివ్యూ పిటిషన్‌ను సుప్రీంకోర్టు కొట్టిపారేసింది. ఢిల్లీ హైకోర్టు సహా కింద కోర్టులు విధించిన ఉరి శిక్షను సుప్రీంకోర్టు సమర్థించింది. దోషులు చేసింది క్షమించరాని నేరమని సుప్రీంకోర్టు త్రిసభ్య ధర్మాసనం పేర్కొంది. నిందితులకు ట్రయల్‌ కోర్టు.. ఢిల్లీ హైకోర్టు ఖరారు చేసిన ఉరి శిక్షలను గతేడాది మేలోనే సుప్రీం కోర్టు ఖరారు చేసిన విషయం తెలిసిందే. అయితే సుప్రీం తీర్పును సమీక్షించాలని కోరుతూ దోషులు ముఖేష్‌(29), పవన్‌ గుప్తా(22), వినయ్‌ శర్మ(23)ల తరపున రివ్యూ పిటిషన్‌ దాఖలైంది. ఈ కేసుపై విచారణ చేపట్టిన సుప్రీం కోర్టు ప్రధాన న్యాయమూర్తి దీపక్‌ మిశ్రా, న్యాయమూర్తులు భానుమతి, అశోక్‌ భూషణ్‌ల ఆధర్వ్యంలో ధర్మాసనం నేడు(సోమవారం) ఈ మేరకు కీలక తీర్పును వెలువరించింది. 2016 డిసెంబర్‌ 16న ఈ కిరాతకమైన ఘటన జరిగిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. ...
